James works across video, installation and performance to stage quasi-scientific investigations. The resulting, often futile experiments, work collectively to navigate a surreal space. His playful attitude towards making emulates notions of the pioneer through to trickster, as he dissects everyday systems to produce a type of alchemy through the manipulation of existing structures.
